About Monroe Street Animal Hospital

Our Promise

When you walk through our doors, you’ll find a team that listens, a space that feels like home, and care that’s tailored to your pet, not a one-size-fits-all approach. Whether you’re visiting for preventive wellness, help managing chronic illness, or compassionate end-of-life care, we’re here to guide you with kindness, knowledge, and heart.

Monroe Street Animal Hospital. Fear Free. Compassion Forward. Always centered on you and your pet.

Our Story

Before opening our doors, we searched for more than a year to find the right place to bring our vision to life. What we discovered was more than a building. It was a piece of Mandeville’s history.
Originally built in 1910 as a private residence, the property has been lovingly added to and adapted for over a century. Today, it is listed on the historic register. We worked hand-in-hand with the local historic commission to honor its past while carefully transforming it into a modern veterinary hospital.

The process has been one of constant improvement. From benches built specifically for our space to family antiques and artwork donated from our own team members’ homes, every detail has been thoughtfully chosen to make pets and people feel welcome. Even our clinic cats (like Cheese, our unofficial mascot) add to the feeling that this is a home as much as it is a hospital.

What Makes Our Space Special

Historic Charm: A 1910 home carefully preserved and repurposed into a neighborhood-centered animal hospital.

Personal Touches: Décor featuring family antiques, local art, and meaningful pieces from our own team members.

A Place That Feels Like Home: Custom-built benches, cozy spaces, and even our resident clinic cats to welcome visitors.

Testimonials

Stories from Happy Clients

At Monroe Street Animal Hospital, we’re grateful to care for pets who mean the world to their families. Nothing speaks louder than the experiences of our clients, who trust us with everything from puppy checkups to senior pet care and beyond. Here’s what some of our neighbors have shared about their time with us:

I am so pleased to have found such a terrific care team for my sweet senior kitty. Everyone is pleasant, helpful, and most of all so experienced in hands-on care. Extremely thorough in exams, both Dr. Paige and Dr. Alissa explain their findings clearly; trusting their diagnoses and treatment plans is a good choice. Always treating pets and their owners/parents with respect, both my sweet kitty and I feel well cared for at The Monroe Street Animal Hospital.

Dr. Paige knows my fur babies so well and has watched them grow over the years. My chihuahuas get so excited when we pull into her parking lot. I know their health is in good hands , because Samantha is on top of every thing and makes sure they are properly looked after.

We absolutely love taking our pets here. Dr. Alissa goes above and beyond to treat our pets like her own. She is knowledgeable and accommodating. I can say the same about Dr. Paige and the whole Monroe Street Animal Hospital team. We wouldn't want to have to go anywhere other than Monroe Street Animal Hospital.

Frequently Asked Questions

We know caring for a pet often comes with questions from wellness plans and medications to what to expect at your next visit. To make things easier, we’ve gathered answers to some of the most common questions our clients ask. If you don’t see your question here, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re always happy to help.

Yes! We’re always happy to welcome new pets and families into our Monroe Street Animal Hospital community.

Because heartworm preventives are prescription medications, pets need a current exam and annual heartworm test before refills. This keeps your pet safe and ensures the medication will work as intended.

Yes! Parasites are active all year in our warm, humid climate. That’s why we strongly recommend keeping pets on prevention every month, all year long.

Yes! We offer Snout Wellness Plans designed to spread out the cost of preventive care. These plans make it easier to keep up with exams, vaccines, and testing throughout the year.

In many cases, yes. Rechecks allow us to confirm that your pet’s treatment plan is helping, adjust doses as weight or health changes, and catch side effects early. They also help prevent masking bigger problems with medications that “quiet” symptoms. Rechecks keep your pet’s care on track and ensure prescriptions remain safe, legal, and appropriate. Helpful tip: Bring notes about appetite, drinking, bathroom habits, itch or pain scores, pill bottles, and even short videos when you come in. These details help us tailor your pet’s care.
